Alright, I haven't received my schedule for this week at work yet, and I was hoping it would be in my inbox by 6pm this evening. Sigh.
If for some reason I have to close at work, I won't be able to run the game.
But! Chances of that are slim, as I usually work earlier. So...
The game is tentatively on for Tuesday, September 7th.

Stay tuned for any last minute changes.

Good news everyone!  I'm planning on driving back on Tuesday, which means I'll be available to play this coming Wednesday.  Get ready for some hot kitty on undead dwarf action!

Very cool.

But anyway, I noticed in the rulebook that you're supposed to roll individually for attacks that hit more then one enemy. I know it would take more time, but it effects how certain abilities interact.

For instance, my bloodhunt ability lets me add +1 to attack rolls on bloodied targets. So if I hit two guys with a burst move, and one of them is bloodied, and one isn't, I wouldn't get +1 to hit the healthier one. I know it's a bit inconvenient, but on the plus side, it increases the chance of getting individual crits, instead of the occasional super-crit.

And I thaught about the cranes wings on the Monk. They're not limited by their speed, but they are limited by their athletics check roll. So if they have really good athletics (At level 8, you could make it about 20), the best they could roll is 25 (the power adds 5). So that's...55/5 = 11 squares on a crit. Which doesn't seem that broken, especially since ususally you won't roll that good (and especially since when you use the normal points system, you wouldn't be able to max out strength, because DEX is more important).

It's taken a while to get it up, but this is the first person perspective of Dai'lo, the female halfling ardent I played on world game day.  For those who don't know, the setting is Dark Sun.

Dai'Lo:

So, Tak'Tha just told me we have to go find a magic cistern or something.  A bunch of merchants offered a whole bunch of money for it and the government did the same.  She says we have to go out in the desert to find it.  I really don't like the desert, but she said its a lot of gold.  Sigh.  Last time we went out in the desert poor Roget died of dehydration.  I also ended up with the worst case of split ends I've ever had and had to cut a third of my hair off.  It's only just now gotten back to full length!

Anyway, so we're out in the desert, on the way to where this cistern is, and half the group gets sunsickness!  I don't, of course.  I have a parasol.  I am not getting split ends again.  But I don't get the others.  Didn't they learn anything last time?  Whatever.  Bost is doing fine though, and he doesn't even have a parasol!  I kinda want to know his secret, but he won't tell me!  He just keeps telling me to shut up and be quiet.  Sigh.  That's what they're always telling me.

I'm pretty sure Bost is about to spill his secrets to me when Tak'Tha says she sees an elf.  I look over and there IS an elf, waving to us.  He seems to be standing next to a pool of water.  Real water!  Oh I want a bath sooo much... It would feel great in this heat.  Maybe the elf will let us camp with him?    I'm gonna go ask him.

Dammit!  Bost won't let me go.  He's picked me up by my chainmail.  Again.  He's telling me to wait.  I don't want to wait.  I want a bath.

Taka says she sees a whole bunch more elves hiding behind the trees.  The one on the rock looks friendly, but even I know that a whole bunch of hiding people means an ambush.  Sigh. .

I tell Bost to put me down.  When he doesn't I punch him in the belly with a mailed fist.  That always does the trick.

I really didn't want to have to fight today.

But if I have to...

I set my parasol down against a rock, pull out my longsword and thrust it to the sky!  I intend to scream something encouraging, but a bunch of the elves are already coming right at us.

Death or glory!

I run up to the nearest elf and slash him across the chest with my longsword.  It's a fair hit, but I'm not satisfied.

Bost joins me, and manages to piss off all three elves at once.  He's good at that.

I feel Whisper go flying past me with one of his crazy jumps.  He lands in the middle of three archers and manages to not hit any of them.  I'm pretty sure a friendly landing wasn't his intention, but there it is.  He'll probably fix his mistake in a moment.

...Unless Tomas fixes it for him.  I know it's him when all three archers start choking and fall over as one.  Tomas is scary.

A shudder passes through my body even though I'm in a fight.  I almost miss Ku throwing a javelin at my head.  Well, not quite, but it goes right past my face.  I'm a little annoyed, especially so as it doesn't even hit the elf.

Nice aim, Ku!

No wonder she never brings back anything decent when she goes hunting.

I already know these guys are outclassed by us.  They probably realize it too, but they're too stupid to run away.  I slash the one in front of me across the thighs.  This time I get a nice deep hit on one of his legs.  Bost is taking a pounding next to me, but I'm too busy to spare much attention for him.  He'll survive.

One of the elves gasps and his skin seems to darken and shrivel.  Tomas again.  Gah he's scary.  He's as scary as Bost wants to be, and he doesn't even try hard.

Taka comes sweeping in behind me, firing arrows in every direction.  I'm pretty sure I see three or four hits.  Two of the elves go down and then she's wading into the remaining elves, slashing them with her claws.

I love Taka.

Ku wades in as well, finishing off another elf with her hammer.  She's much better in melee.

Suddenly the elves are all down and their leader, the waving guy, is pleading with us.  I hate it when they beg.  I start telling the others that we should take his offer and let him go, but Whisper jumps down on him and breaks his neck with a punch.

Then Tomas cuts off his ear.  It's Tomas.  I'm not arguing with Tomas.

Then Bost cuts off his arm and puts it in his backpack.  Dammit Bost!  The last time he did something like that it fell out while we were negotiating with some soldiers.  That didn't go so well.  I'll just take it and bury it when he isn't looking.

At least I can take my bath now.

This time when we head out I convince the others to make umbrellas out of leaves.  This time none of them get sunsickness, except Whisper.  He refuses to use an umbrella.  Something about monastic asceticism and mortification of the flesh.  I know.  He's weird.  He lasts a few hours, then he starts wobbling around like a drunk.  I guess he can't handle much mortification.

Evenutally we get to a valley, with a cave at one end.  The valley is full of plants.  The only place I've ever seen so much plantlife in one place is in a palace garden.  It's very pretty.  I wonder if I can take a nap under one of the trees?

No luck.  More bandits.  They run out of the bushes on either side of us and I have to ditch my parasol in a hurry.  They look like street scum, which is odd cause most street scum doesn't want to leave the street.  The whipcracking templar behind them makes sense of it though.  I bet he's footing the bill.  He starts screaming some craziness about the honor of his boss and the thugs charge us.  I doubt they care about the honor of his boss, but he probably doesn't care.  Templars are funny that way.

The first person to get hit is Bost, as the Templar thrusts out a fist at him from the bushes.  The air ripples between them and Bost goes flying, landing on his back.  I see blood coming out of his nose and eyes.  He doesn't look so good.

Sigh.

I'm probably going to have to help him.

Whisper wades in and knocks the templar back away from Bost.  Good.  He can help the idiot.

I hear Taka doing something next to me, but then she shrieks and curses.  I look and she appears to be singed.  Misfire, I guess.  She still manages to hit one of the thugs with an arrow.

I look back to the Templar and he has gotten back up.  He waves his hands and the whole area explodes with gas.  It fills my lungs before I can think to hold my breath.  I feel it burning there.  I take off running.  I know I have to get out of the cloud fast, but Bost doesn't look like he'll survive without help.

Observe.  Plan.  Execute.

I hit Bost with an ardent surge then charge out of the cloud at the nearest two enemies, a pair of thugs.  One looks like a dwarf.  I try to scream a battlecry but it's hard to do with lungs full of poison.  It's also hard to swing a sword like that and my big swing only tags the dwarf lightly on one arm, not even his weapon arm.  Bleh.

My lungs are burning, but I'm out of the gas.  I hear coughing and yelling from behind me and guess that Bost isn't.  I take a glance and see him down in the cloud.

Dammit.

No, he's up.  He's running my way.  I've never seen someone move that fast with a limp.

Taka fires past him and I see the Templar reel back with a shaft sticking out of his shoulder.  He looks rather pained and I feel a happy jolt in my heart.  Die you bastard.

I look back and the dwarf is stabbing at me.  Dammit, 'lo.  Don't get distracted girl.  My mail catches his blade, but it's close.

I knock his blade back and stab him right in the gut.  He goes down, blood rushing out of the wound.  It gives me room to breathe.  I throw an ardent surge back at Bost and yell at him to help whisper.  I still have another scumbag to get rid of, though Ku might do it for me if she feels like it.

I check the situation over by Whisper.  It's not good.  Tomas is down, Bost still looks like he's about to fall down and Whisper is getting booted around.  They need help.

I jump back and duck under a swipe from the remaining thug, then run at the bastard standing over Tomas.  He tries to block but it's no good.  I run him clear through and blast him with a psychic surge.  Blood runs out his nose and he falls back onto the ground.

I look over at Whisper and see him hit the Templar with a strong kick.  He's right where I need him.

I gather my energy.  Bost goes down from a strong hit from a thug, but I'm ready to move.  The Templar sends a force blast my way but I dodge out of the way, lock onto Whiper and...

Pull.  We flow through space in an instant and I'm standing where he was.  I dump my energy through my sword and swing in a great arc, taking the Templar across the stomach and cleaving through the lower leg of the thug behind me.  When I come back around the Templar is stumbling as my psychic energy crackles along his nerves.

I grin and scream.

"Get the bastard!"

I crouch for my next strike and swing again as one of Taka's arrows thwacks into his thigh.  I take him across the thigh.  He stumbles back and suddenly freezes as his skin shrivels.  Tomas is back!  I move for another strike but the Templar is already falling.  He hits the ground and I thrust my sword down into his heart, crank it a half turn and scream in triumph.

Take that you crazy bastard!

We've earned a rest.  We go inside the cave and sit down after cleaning up.  Bost takes a nap and I take this chance to steal the arm out of his pack and hide it back outside.  I bury it deep under a bush just to be safe.  I get dirt under my nails, but that's life.  I'll get over it eventually.

Once we've rested we search the cave.  We eventually find a hole.  The air around the hole feels wet.  This might be the cistern.  We're going down.

The others go into the hole before me.  Most of them are down in the hole when one of them starts screaming up that there's something big down with them.  Something big and scary.

I climb down the rope as fast as I can but the insanity has already started before I reach the bottom.  I drop into water up to my ankles and look around, trying to figure out what's going on.  I see glowing mushrooms.  Wild.  There's water everywhere.  Wow.  Lots of water.  Maybe I can wash the dirt out from under my nails.  Focus, girl.  People are yelling, something is snarling, and the echoes are filling the cave.

I finally spot Whisper, punching something huge with four legs and huge teeth right in its nose.  The creature looks vague catlike, but I can barely see it.  I've also never seen a cat that big.  Or that ugly.

As I watch the party charges in, weapons swinging.  The huge cat bounds around them, biting and slashing with its claws.  I can feel the negative energy of it from all th way across the room.

This is not going to be fun.

I can see Bost bleeding on the other side of the cave.  I run closer and send an ardent surge his way.  I doesn't seem to help as much as it should.  Maybe because of the waves of death I can feel coming from the cat.

Ku swings at the thing, but her hammer goes through it as if it's not there.

Very much not fun.

The cat is moving so fast I can barely keep track of it.  Before I can even take another step it's already attacked two different people.  One of those people is Ku.  I think she's missing a chunk of her leg.

Bost breaks and runs my way, but the cat lays a hit on him as he goes past me.

That thing is HUGE!

I'm so startled I swing and throw all my energy at it, trying to stun it.  I miss horribly, grazing its side lightly.  Terrible.

Whisper hits it in the side with a kick, knocking it down on its side, but I'm still stumbling from my terrible miss.

I watch the cat struggle up and slash at Whisper clumsily.  I've almost recovered but I can feel my life draining away from whatever energy field surrounds this monstrosity.

The cat makes it back up and makes two more strikes.  Both Ku and Whisper go down.

Impossibly not fun.

I have to get them back up.  We aren't going to survive unless we're all going at this thing.  I get down next to them and start wrapping up their wounds and trying to wake them up.

Get up you idiots!

I have no healing energy left for them and very little idea how fix someone the normal way.  I can stop their bleeding, but...  Dammit.  Dammit.  Dammit.  We're going to die...

Pull yourself together girl.  Think.  Think.

Bost comes running up while I'm trying to slow my breathing and almost falls over Ku's body  This almost drives me over into panic again.

No.  Focus.  Breathe slow.  Breathe easy.

Suddenly Taka is there, working on Whisper.  She gets him back up.  I can see the cat coming at us.

I know I have to stall it.  I charge, swinging wildly and connect on one of my strokes.  It's a solid hit and I feel the blow ring up into my arms.  Rock!  It's made out of rock.

It turns to me.  It's jaws open and I can see down its throat.  The fangs are longer than my forearms.

Whisper flies into its side, kicking and punching like a madman.  He's possessed!  Half his blows are missing but the cat reels back.  He catches it in the throat and its gasps and collapses.

I love you Whisper!

He's totally getting hugged when I get my heart rate back down.

Yes, Kaminari acquired a new doggy.
And we learned that monkeys can do more than poo and giggle (they can dance, too).
