Dominion....it is delicious.

I picked up Dominion from ABG a few weeks after seeing it win an Origins Award and then reading a bunch of reviews on BGG.  So far I've put in only five or six plays with my wife, Melani, and then one 4 player game last night.  Every session has been a blast and I really love a game that scales well to the number of players.  Its a relatively quick play that can get pretty deep strategically as you build your deck throughout the game.  Lots of variety as well, as it comes with 25 different types of "kingdom cards" but you only use 10 at a time per game.  That gives it a lot of replay value and a lot of different card combinations.

Anyway, just wanted to recommend the game to any who haven't tried it and also see what others who have played it have to say about it.

I've seen this game highly rated and recommended at Board Game Geek and I looked it over... it really didn't grab me from what I saw online. There must really be something great about it for all the praise it gets - anyone that can tell a little more about it and what they like?

I picked it up from ABG a few months and we have thoroughly enjoyed it.  The aspects of the game that stand out the most if the variety and replay value of the game.  The variety comes from the Kingdom Cards (action cards) that are used, the game comes with 25 kingdom cards but you only use 10 in a game.  The manual will recommend combinations, you can use the radomizer cards or you can pick which 10 to play with.  Either way you choose makes for an interesting game and this adds to the replay value of the game. 

The games last about 30 minutes depending on the action cards that you have, I would estimate that it takes one game to get use to the game mechanics, after that you just work on your strategy.  There is a solitaire factor to it depends on the cards being used but that can easily be fixed by adding some attack cards to the mix.

I highly recommend this game because it doesn't get boring, frustrating at times but not boring.  Hope this helps.

Here's what I liked about the game:

1) Very easy to learn, but there is a decent strategy aspect.
2) There is enough of a random factor to the game that more experienced players aren't *assured* to dominate. They will do better - certainly - but anyone can win, which makes it fun.
3) It moves quickly and doesn't take too long to play.
4) The cards introduce an interesting level of variety.
5) You really don't know who is winning until the very end, which keeps it exciting. You have an idea of who may be ahead, but you don't know for sure. (An experienced card-counter could easily keep track of this, though.)
